The preparation and serving of coffee is generally the same across the Arab world. The ritual of serving coffee is a sign that a guest is welcomed and honoured. In most modern Arab homes,  an electric coffee grinder has replaced the mortar. Coffee beans can also be bought ready ground. However, the ritual of serving coffee is still carried out with immense care, and is still a great way to make people feel welcome. On special occasions, or even just during visits from neighbours, coffee is very much a part of socialising.
